MOUNTAIN HOUSE
Home base for your mountain adventure, the Highlander Mountain House is an English country house hotel set within the awe-inspiring mountains of Western North Carolina. Life at HMH is centered around its warm, communal common areas full of incredible curated art & literature, roaring fires, cozy seating, a warm staff and the perfect soundtrack. The well-appointed guest rooms are designed in the English Eclectic style and leave you rested and ready to embrace a day in the bustling town of Highlands or the wilds of Appalachia. Please note that pets are not allowed in the Main House.
BUNK HOUSE
Located directly behind the Mountain House, the recently renovated HMH Bunkhouse is inspired by the magic of a summer camp in the southern Appalachian mountains. The rooms are rustic and cozy and not to mention, pet-friendly. The Bunkhouse offers a great price point to experience all of the magic of Highlander Mountain House, the town of Highlands, and the inspiration of the Southern Appalachian mountains. Guests of the Bunkhouse are invited to avail themselves of all of Mountain House amenities.
THE RUFFED GROUSE TAVERN
In the kitchen, Chef Adam Bresnahan takes his cue from the land. Serving regionally influenced fare for Sunday brunch, lunch (Friday and Saturday), and dinner (Tuesday–Saturday), he stocks his larder with seasonal ingredients from Blue Ridge farmers and growers. In addition to classic cocktails and Methodical Coffee, you’ll find a rotating selection of craft beers on tap, as well as an expertly curated wine list focused on biodynamic, organic wines from small, family-run vineyards.
